19 Scriptures for When Fear Has the Upper Hand

If you’ve ever apologized to God for being afraid — like your anxiety is somehow disappointing Him — this is for you.

The Bible is full of terrified people God used anyway. Moses, Gideon, Elijah, Peter. Their fear didn’t disqualify them. Yours doesn’t either.

This free PDF walks through 19 powerful scriptures on faith over fear — the verses that have anchored believers through health crises, family storms, and the specific dread of 3am when the world feels like it’s falling apart.

Join readers who get weekly reflections from Hope — no spam, no formulas, just honest words for real faith.

Most nights, when the lights go out and everyone is asleep, I wrestle. With the parts of faith that don’t resolve neatly. With the ways Scripture is harder than I was taught. With the question of whether the church I love can be honest about the harm it has sometimes caused.

That wrestling is where this blog was born. Not as a place to perform spiritual certainty, but to document what honest faith actually looks like — doubt and devotion together, theology and trauma held in the same hand.

I hold a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary and have spent over ten years in ministry. I’m a published author, a ghostwriter whose work has appeared in Forbes and Entrepreneur, and an SEO content strategist for nonprofits and mission-driven organizations.
